We drove through this nature preserve this afternoon and spotted a couple of Wood Storks. Definitely an odd-looking bird! I was impressed (unfavorably) by the many references to snakes in the visitor center, coral snakes, copperheads, rattles, pythons, moccasins… as the volunteer told me, “Well, this IS Florida!” Great. My enthusiasm for hiking cooled a bit.
