Scenes from the Beach

At the annual Florida’s Birding and Photo Fest — Our field experience group met at Anastasia State Park near St. Augustine at 0615. The park rangers drove us out and on to the beach to photograph for the next 4 hours. Driving on the beach was so cool! Kevin Karlson, a noted bird expert, was our leader.

The tree, or what’s left of it.

The St. Augustine lighthouse- ever since a new inlet was dredged, this lighthouse is in the wrong location!

Capturing the pre-sunrise colors

There are many shells on the beach that crunch underfoot.

Pelicans just before the sunrise.

And there’s the sun!

Hours later we are photographing Royal Terns and brown pelicans.
